The Springdale Prep Lions will take on the St. Mary's Ryken Knights in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday at. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Wednesday, Springdale Prep really took it to KIPP College Prep for the full four quarters, racking up a 80-27 victory at home. The win was all the more spectacular given Springdale Prep's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 113th in Maryland, while KIPP College Prep is ranked 15th in District of Columbia).
It was another big night for Anya Neufeld, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. She set a new season high mark in steals with seven. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Sellers, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, St. Mary's Ryken beat Huntingtown on Wednesday by the very same score they won with last week: 60-54. The victory made it back-to-back wins for St. Mary's Ryken.
Springdale Prep's win bumped their record up to 17-12. As for St. Mary's Ryken, they pushed their record up to 5-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.
