The Ontario Christian Knights came tearing into Thursday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Bonita 68-26 on the road. Given Ontario Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Bonita is ranked 131st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kaleena Smith continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 26 points along with nine steals. That makes it 15 consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Ontario Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Amanda Ajobiewe, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Bonita lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jordy Demott. Despite the final result, she scored eight points along with 14 rebounds.
Ontario Christian has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. As for Bonita, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.
Ontario Christian won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Moreno Valley at 6:00 p.m. on December 29th. Moreno Valley is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Bonita will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Claremont at 3:00 p.m. on December 29th.
