The Avon Orioles will head out on the road to square off against the Franklin Central Flashes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Indiana (Avon is ranked 45th, while Franklin Central is ranked 47th).
Avon's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 63-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Zionsville.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kendrick Dunmore, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Miguel Correa, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Franklin Central came up short against Hamilton Southeastern on Thursday and fell 58-46. Franklin Central has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Avon has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season. As for Franklin Central, they now have a losing record at 9-10.
Avon was able to grind out a solid win over Franklin Central in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 64-53. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Franklin Central's Elijah Crockett, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points and 1 assist. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Avon to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
