Leigh is 6-0 against Lincoln since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Leigh Longhorns will head out on the road to take on the Lincoln Lions at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Leigh has three straight wins, Lincoln has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Monday, Leigh's game was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They skirted past Leland 2-1.
Leigh was led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Kayla Pham and
Maggie Currie, who scored both of Leigh's goals. The pair have combined for a total of 15 so far this season.
Meanwhile, Lincoln fell victim to Leland's stalwart defense on Wednesday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were the victim of a tough 3-0 loss at the hands of the Chargers.
Leigh's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-0-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 25 goals over those eight contests. As for Lincoln, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9-1 record this season.
Leigh beat Lincoln 4-2 in their previous matchup back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Leigh since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
