Basketball Recap: Oceanside Skates Past Sage Creek with Ease

Oceanside won the last time they faced Sage Creek and things went their way on Friday too. The Oceanside Pirates simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Sage Creek Bobcats 55-13. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 21 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Oceanside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Martina Griffin, who posted 11 points and four steals. Griffin is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alana Hoskins, who put up 12 points.

Oceanside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 17 consecutive contests.

Oceanside's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 11-10. As for Sage Creek, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.

Oceanside has already played their next game (against Mater Dei Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Sage Creek will head out to take on Torrey Pines at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Torrey Pines is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.8 points per game this season.
