Baseball Recap: Brookstone Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Brookstone waltzed into their game on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Southwest Georgia Academy Warriors 12-4. Considering the Cougars have won 12 matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Brennan Neal and Luke Lowery made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Neal pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Lowery pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Neal has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Neal went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Lowery went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. That's the most RBI Neal has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mercer Hudson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Gray Jones, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Brookstone kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.

Brookstone pushed their record up to 22-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Southwest Georgia Academy, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-2.

As of now, neither Brookstone nor the Warriors have any future games scheduled.
