The Mount Miguel Matadors can finally bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 32-13 win over Liberty Charter. The victory was just what Mount Miguel needed coming off of a 76-28 loss in their prior matchup.
Mount Miguel found their leader in underclassman Jaylene Hughes, who scored 30 points along with five rebounds. That makes it 22 consecutive games in which Hughes has scored at least a third of Mount Miguel's points.
Mount Miguel's victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-19. As for Liberty Charter, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-9.
Mount Miguel will take on Monte Vista at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Monte Vista is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. As for Liberty Charter, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Preuss UCSD at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
