West Liberty-Salem's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ava Astorino, who scored 11 points, and Lilly Weaver who scored six points along with five rebounds and three steals. Weaver is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played.
Meanwhile, Jonathan Alder had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 54-27 win over Kenton Ridge. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Jonathan Alder has managed all season.
West Liberty-Salem's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-3. As for Jonathan Alder, they pushed their record up to 11-6 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.
West Liberty-Salem barely slipped by the Pioneers in their previous matchup back in February of 2022, winning 36-35. Does West Liberty-Salem have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pioneers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
