The Sacramento Adventist Capitals waltzed into their matchup on Monday with three straight wins but they left with four. They came out on top against Elk Grove by a score of 49-42. Given Sacramento Adventist's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 513th, while Elk Grove is ranked 1080th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Mikayla Meza, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Victoria Fowler, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.
Nyla Kieu and Kaylee Venegas certainly did their best on Monday to try and avoid the loss. Kieu scored 12 points, while Venegas scored 11 points. Kieu's trending in the right direction, as she's improved his point production for three games straight.
Sacramento Adventist's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. As for Elk Grove, they are on a 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.
Sacramento Adventist will be playing at home against Cristo Rey at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Elk Grove, they will head out on the road to take on St. Francis at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully St. Francis focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Saturday.
