Lakeland is 1-0 against Clearwater Academy International since October of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Lakeland Dreadnaughts' homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Clearwater Academy International Knights at 7:00 p.m. on October 20th. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Lakeland got themselves on the board against George Jenkins, but George Jenkins never followed suit. They really took it to the Eagles for the full four quarters, racking up a 59-0 victory at home. The result was nothing new for Lakeland, who have now won five contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
Among those leading the charge was Zander Smith, who threw for 269 yards and three touchdowns while completing 81.3% of his passes. Jamar Taylor Jr was another key contributor, picking up 102 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Clearwater Academy International had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Riverview Sarasota and snuck past 35-33.
Antwan Raymond continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 195 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.3 yards per carry. Raymond was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 68 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Joaquin Kavouklis, who threw for 257 yards and three touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Lakeland to 6-2 and Clearwater Academy International to 3-4.
Everything came up roses for Lakeland against Clearwater Academy International in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 44-6 victory. Does Lakeland have another victory up their sleeve, or will Clearwater Academy International turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
