The Sage Creek Bobcats suffered their biggest loss since November 28, 2023 on Friday. They were the victim of a tough 54-30 loss at the hands of Oceanside. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Sage Creek has scored all season.
Sage Creek's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Harmony Lawler, who scored eight points along with 13 rebounds and four blocks, and Gia Kiesling who scored four points along with nine rebounds and six steals. Lawler is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.
Oceanside's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Martina Griffin, who scored 20 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Griffin hasn't dropped below two steals for 15 straight games. Another player making a difference was Nalia Nuanez, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Sage Creek's loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Oceanside, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-3.
Sage Creek will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Torrey Pines at 5:30 p.m. Hopefully Torrey Pines focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Saturday. Oceanside won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Mater Dei Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th. Hopefully Mater Dei Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 last Tuesday.
