The Willow Glen Rams will square off against the Westmont Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Willow Glen will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
If Willow Glen beats Westmont with four runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Rams narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Leland 4-2.
Tyson Paganini and Nolan Wirtz dominated on the mound. Paganini tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Wirtz pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Paganini has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Willow Glen saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Korba, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Korba is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played.
Willow Glen hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Westmont can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Santa Teresa a 7-0 shutout. The Warriors not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 8th (when they won 11-0).
Peyton Hines was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Westmont: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 3-18-1 otherwise.
In other batting news, Roman Soto was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kainoa Raub, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
Willow Glen's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-6. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Westmont, their victory bumped their record up to 5-19-1.
Willow Glen's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's game. The Rams have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Westmont, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Willow Glen continue to outrun the ball?
Willow Glen couldn't quite get it done against Westmont in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 4-1. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
