Baseball Recap: Homer Has No Trouble Against Jackson

The Homer Trojans got the win against the Jackson Vikings on Wednesday by a conclusive 7-1. Considering the Trojans have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Brock Butler made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over 5.1 innings pitched. He has become a key player for Homer: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 10-11 otherwise. Butler was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Xander Dubois was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Roman Butler, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Homer is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-12 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Jackson, they dropped their record down to 11-27 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road.

Homer does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Jackson, they will host Central at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
