Baseball Recap: Augusta Prep Day Wins Going Away Against Greene County

Augusta Prep Day won the last time they faced Greene County and things went their way on Friday too. The Augusta Prep Day Cavaliers blew past the Greene County Tigers 16-1. The result was nothing new for the Cavaliers, who have now won five contests by 13 runs or more so far this season.

Viraj Bulla was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Augusta Prep Day is 3-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Bulla was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tanner Gay, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. He is becoming a predictor of Augusta Prep Day's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 0-4 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Ayden Payne, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Augusta Prep Day now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Greene County, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Looking ahead, Augusta Prep Day will head out on the road to face off against Westminster Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Greene County will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cedar Shoals at 6:00 p.m. on March 27th.
