West Mecklenburg is 0-10 against West Charlotte since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The West Mecklenburg Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the West Charlotte Lions at 7:15 p.m. Hopefully West Mecklenburg focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Friday.
West Mecklenburg struggled with assists on Friday (Chambers had 18 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. West Mecklenburg took a serious blow against Chambers, falling 84-31. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points West Mecklenburg has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, West Mecklenburg saw an underclassman step up: Josiah Pratt scored nine points along with ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, West Charlotte scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They had just enough and edged Mallard Creek out 85-82. The win made it back-to-back wins for West Charlotte.
Damani Day was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 32 points and 1 assists. The contest was his third in a row with at least ten points. Christian Coleman was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five assists and four steals.
This is the second loss in a row for West Mecklenburg and nudges their season record down to 3-3. As for West Charlotte, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Tuesday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Cam Higgins and Day. Higgins has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 19 points, 4 steals, and 6 rebounds. For his part, Day has averaged 18.8 points, 2.2 steals, and 2.2 assists.
West Mecklenburg was dealt a bruising 63-22 loss at the hands of West Charlotte in their previous meeting back in January. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point West Mecklenburg was down 37-9.
