The Coventry Oakers will head out on the road to take on the Pilgrim Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Pilgrim took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Coventry, who comes in off a win.
Coventry came out on top against Mt. Hope on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Oakers took their matchup against the Huskies 5-1. The Oakers haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Andrew Rapose spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up nine Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Coventry's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 2-1 (and 3-8 when he doesn't).
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alex Donehower, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Aiden Riley, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Pilgrim was not able to break out of their rough patch last Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of Toll Gate.
Derrick Butler was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits.
On the hitting side, Henry Kearns was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Donovan Vermette also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Pilgrim's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Coventry, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.
Coventry couldn't quite finish off Pilgrim when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can the Oakers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
