The Fillmore Flashes will take on the Nordhoff Rangers at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Fillmore has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Fillmore's last matchup with St. Bonaventure could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Friday. The Flashes lost 14-2 to the Seraphs. The loss continues a trend for the Flashes in their meetings with the Seraphs: they've now lost eight in a row.
JJ Jasso made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Nordhoff). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Santa Clara a 21-0 shutout on Saturday. The Rangers haven't had any issues with the Saints recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Jacob De Alba was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in six of his seven plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Nordhoff is 3-1 when De Alba posts two or more runs, but 4-9 otherwise.
In other batting news, Weston Haley was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs. Those seven RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnny Perez, who went 1-for-6 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Nordhoff kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Fillmore's defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Nordhoff, their victory bumped their record up to 7-10.
Fillmore was able to grind out a solid win over Nordhoff in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, winning 4-0. Do the Flashes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rangers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
