The San Marcos Knights lost against the Rancho Bernardo Broncos back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. San Marcos lost to Rancho Bernardo on the road by a decisive 48-33 margin. San Marcos has struggled against Rancho Bernardo recently, as their game on Wednesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ava Wiedemann, who scored 13 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Kadence Raymond, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and six steals.
Rancho Bernardo found their leader in underclassman Lindsay Biddle, who scored 25 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Biddle has scored all season. Claire Neidre was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
San Marcos has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season. As for Rancho Bernardo, they pushed their record up to 16-2 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Marcos' road trip will continue as they head out to face Del Norte at 5:30 p.m. on January 12th. Del Norte presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than San Marcos in California (Del Norte is ranked 76th, while San Marcos is ranked 365th). As for Rancho Bernardo, they will head out on the road to challenge Mission Hills at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Mission Hills' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine matchups.
