Tamaqua is 1-9 against North Schuylkill since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Tamaqua Blue Raiders are on the road again and plays the North Schuylkill Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on February 13th. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Saturday, Tamaqua didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Minersville, but they still walked away with a 48-42 win.
Tamaqua's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sarah Hope, who scored 17 points along with two steals. It was the first time this season that Hope scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Kolbe Robb, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, North Schuylkill was able to grind out a solid victory over Bloomsburg on Wednesday, taking the game 41-31. Given North Schuylkill's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Bloomsburg is ranked 240th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tamaqua is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. As for North Schuylkill, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.
Tamaqua came up short against North Schuylkill in their previous meeting back in January, falling 58-45. Can Tamaqua avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
