Hardaway is 2-8 against Columbus since March of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Hardaway will be playing at home against Columbus at 5:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Hardaway's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Kendrick as Hardaway made off with a 20-0 win. Bobby Gary made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.
In other pitching news, Gabriel Ruiz looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, Hardaway got a massive performance out of Christian Eleby, who scored two runs and stole five bases while going 2-for-2. Eleby has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Keshaun Davis, who scored a run and stole four bases while going 2-for-2.
Hardaway always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .897. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .533 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Columbus got the win against Carver on Friday by a conclusive 15-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Devils.
Martin Heim looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Columbus is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 8-9 otherwise.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Maddox Anderson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Columbus is undefeated when Anderson posts two or more runs, but 8-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Axel Serra, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Columbus' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-9. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Hardaway, their win bumped their record up to 12-4.
