The third road game was the charm for the Chartiers-Houston Buccaneers, as they earned their first road win of the season. They came out on top against California by a score of 45-36 on Thursday. Given Chartiers-Houston's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 147th, while California is ranked 370th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Chartiers-Houston's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amelia Brose, who scored 14 points along with seven steals. Brose set a new season high mark in blocks with two. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Mitrik, who scored nine points along with 15 rebounds and three steals.
Chartiers-Houston now has a winning record of 3-2. As for California, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
Chartiers-Houston will be home for the holidays to greet Bethlehem Center at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for California, they will head out on the road to face off against Carmichaels at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
