The Oxford Chargers lost against the Hernando Tigers back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Oxford took a 59-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. While losing is never fun, Oxford can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while the Tigers are ranked 38th).
Hernando found their leader in underclassman Jaliyah Kelly, who scored 23 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kelly has scored all season. Fran Kelly was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Oxford has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season. As for Hernando, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-5.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Horn Lake the next time they take the court. Hernando will host Horn Lake at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Oxford will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
