After a string of three wins, the Torrey Pines Falcons's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 54-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of La Costa Canyon. Torrey Pines was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as La Costa Canyon apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Torrey Pines' loss came despite strong showings from Grace Trusso and Lily Oliva. Trusso scored 21 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Oliva scored 14 points.
Torrey Pines' loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-13. As for La Costa Canyon, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 15-13 record this season.
Torrey Pines will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Joseph Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Torrey Pines focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday. La Costa Canyon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
