After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Victor Valley, Granite Hills was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Miller Rebels. Considering the Cougars have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Granite Hills got a great performance from Seth Christenson as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Granite Hills let Travon Jackson Jr and Isaiah Mayorga run wild. Jackson Jr went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run, while Mayorga went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four RBI gave Jackson Jr a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Paul Watts, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Granite Hills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
With the win, Granite Hills broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 13-8. As for Miller, the defeat snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 13-10 record.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Granite Hills will head out to challenge Barstow at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Miller, they will venture away from home to take on Entrepreneur at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 19.73 runs per game on average), something the Rebels will no doubt try to take advantage of.
