Central had won five straight at home, but on Wednesday they bumped up to 13-2 to make it six. Everything went their way against the Newton Rams as they made off with a 10-1 win. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by eight runs or more this season.

As for Newton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss they have suffered since February 14th.

For Newton's part, they got a good showing from Josh Brown Jr, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Brown Jr has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Central will take on Heritage at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Newton, they will square off against Bob Jones at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
