If Montgomery Academy was riding high  fresh off their  62-6 takedown of Northside Methodist Academy last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eagles fell just short of the Luverne Tigers by a score of  48-45 on Friday. The Eagles gained 105 more yards on the day, but it was the Tigers that made the best use of them.
 Despite the loss, Montgomery Academy still got an impressive performance from   Reid McBride, who threw for 291 yards and three  touchdowns while completing 73.9% of his passes, and also rushed for 122 yards and one  score on only ten carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 82 yards. Montgomery Academy's leading receiver  Jarrett Friendly was  McBride's top target yet again, picking up 152 receiving yards and a pair of  TDs.
  Elliott Harris produced another solid  effort rushing for 134 yards and a pair of  touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry, and also catching one  score for Luverne.  Tavion Rainey was another key player, rushing for 86 yards and one  TD.
Having lost for the first time  this season, Montgomery Academy  fell to 5-1. As for Luverne, the  victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
 Montgomery Academy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next  matchup,  a  38-12  win against Trinity Presbyterian on the 3rd. As for Luverne, they have also already played their next contest,  a  60-0  victory against Calhoun on the 3rd.
