Elk Grove  took care of business in their home opener  (and then some) on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Rodriguez Mustangs  a   7-0 shutout. The Thundering Herd not only won  on Friday, but they posted their biggest win  since May 7, 2024.
 Colton Lincoln looked comfortable as he  kept things locked down with   no  earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave  him a new career-low in  hits (zero).
 At the plate,  Antonio Cuevas and  Brent Martin did most of the damage at the plate:  Cuevas  scored two  runs while going 3-for-4, while  Martin  scored a  run while going 2-for-3. That's the most  runs  Cuevas has posted since back in March of 2024.  Chase Dyer was another key player,  going 1-for-2 with one  double and one  RBI.
 Elk Grove was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .469. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rodriguez only posted a  batting average of  .095.
 Elk Grove didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next  game,  a  2-0  loss against Valley Christian on the 26th. As for Rodriguez, they have also  already played their next match,  an  8-0  defeat against Rocklin on the 28th.
