Baseball Recap: Strathmore Triumphs

Strathmore's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Mendota Aztecs. For the Spartans, this counts as revenge for the 9-6 victory the Aztecs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2025.

Atticus Loftin made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

Loftin wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ryder Behrens, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Strathmore's record is now 3-6. As for Mendota, they dropped their record down to 2-7 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Strathmore wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 11-0 loss against Riverdale on the 18th. As for Mendota, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 17-1 win against Wonderful College Prep Academy on the 23rd.
