Basketball Recap: Central Snags 13th Win in Last 16 Games

Central won the last time they faced Clovis North and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Central Grizzlies strolled past the Clovis North Broncos with points to spare, taking the game 64-46. Given the Grizzlies' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Broncos are ranked 254th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zyraeis Murphy, who posted eight points along with 15 rebounds and five blocks. Murphy is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Savana Chase, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards.

Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Central has been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.7 points per game. As for Clovis North, they dropped their record down to 8-18 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central has already played their next game (against Clovis East), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Clovis North will venture away from home to square off against Buchanan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Clovis North is facing Buchanan at the right time seeing as Buchanan is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
