Even though the Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes have not done well against the Tri-Valley Bulldogs recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Schuylkill Haven was the clear victor by a 56-32 margin over the Bulldogs. Schuylkill Haven has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 23 points or more this season.
Leading Schuylkill Haven to victory were Mckenna Runkle and Audrey Hutchinson. Runkle scored 13 points, while Hutchinson scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Haag, who scored eight points.
Tri-Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cassie Huntzinger, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. That was a full 37.5% of Tri-Valley's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Avery Miller, who scored ten points.
The victory (which was Schuylkill Haven's fourth in a row) raised their record to 19-2. As for Tri-Valley, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-18.
Schuylkill Haven will be playing in front of their home fans against the Battlin' Miners at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Minersville: 29, the Hurricanes: 25.2) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Tri-Valley, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Line Mountain is on a four-game streak of home losses, the Bulldogs a ten-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change.
