Basketball Recap: Samiah Stallworth's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Aspire Langston Hughes Academy over Venture Academy

Aspire Langston Hughes Academy lost against Venture Academy back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Aspire Langston Hughes Academy Titans took a hard 33-14 fall against the Venture Academy Mustangs.

Several Titans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Samiah Stallworth, who posted eight points. Nazneen Zarif was another key player, putting up three points and five steals.

Even though they lost, Aspire Langston Hughes Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since the start of last season.

Kelyiana Neal was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 15 points and ten boards for Venture Academy. Neal has been hot for a while, having also posted three or more steals the last 14 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sarah Wegner, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 12 rebounds.

Aspire Langston Hughes Academy's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Venture Academy, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-8.

Aspire Langston Hughes Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-19 defeat against Woodland Christian on the 18th. As for Venture Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 51-50 loss against Natomas on the 17th.
