Vasquez hasn't had much luck against Trinity Classical Academy recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Knights at 3:15 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Vasquez 3.4, Trinity Classical Academy 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Vasquez and Palmdale, and Palmdale kept the tradition alive. The Mustangs fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 5-4 on Saturday.
Joshua Bauer put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Bauer was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one stolen base.
Bauer wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Vince Ortiz, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Trinity Classical Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over Desert Christian on Thursday. The win continues a trend for Trinity Classical Academy in their matchups with Desert Christian: they've now won eight in a row.
Maddox Rice tossed a big game, pitching 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aiden Visconti, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Cade Herta, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Trinity Classical Academy's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Vasquez, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Vasquez has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Trinity Classical Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Vasquez might still be hurting after the 14-1 loss they got from Trinity Classical Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Mustangs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
