Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fullington Academy). They blew past the Byne Christian Saints 21-6 on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Trojans as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
The team relied heavily on Cutter Tharpe, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Clay Sangster, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
Fullington Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matches.
The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-11. As for Byne Christian, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fullington Academy will challenge Grace Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Trojans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Byne Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Baker County on Monday.
