Compton hasn't had much luck against Woodrow Wilson recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Tarbabes will host the Bruins at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Compton 3.2, Woodrow Wilson 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
While Compton didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-14-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over King/Drew on Monday.
Andrew Ruiz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February of 2025.
Ruiz wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Victor Contreras, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Woodrow Wilson fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Trabuco Hills on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 10-8. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Bruins, who until this game were averaging 4.09 runs allowed.
Woodrow Wilson also got a good showing from Cole Mountain, who pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.
On the hitting side, James Mirabile made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Nicholas Thiem was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Compton's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Woodrow Wilson, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
Compton's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. The Tarbabes have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Woodrow Wilson, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Compton continue to outrun the ball?
Compton might still be hurting after the 13-1 loss they got from Woodrow Wilson in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Will the Tarbabes have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
