While Carmel's win against Wauconda wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Corsairs had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 7-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Corsairs.

Carmel's victory was truly a team effort as nine different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Martinson, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs Martinson has posted over his last 11 games. JJ Doyle also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Carmel's record now sits at 9-13. As for Wauconda, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-8.

Coming up, Carmel will square off against Grayslake North at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wauconda, they will take on Round Lake at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.67 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
