Montebello and Los Altos are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2022, but likely not for long. The Oilers will be playing at home against the Conquerors at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Montebello will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
Montebello lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Alhambra, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's contest. The Oilers put the hurt on the Moors with a sharp 9-2 win on Friday. The Oilers not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 11th (when they won 9-0).
The team relied heavily on Isaiah Cervantes, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Fernando Cruz was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Los Altos had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They skirted past Alta Loma 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Conquerors have posted since March 28th.
Los Altos let Andres Garcia and Nikolas Galindo run wild. Garcia went 2-for-3 with two runs, while Galindo went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Jake Vasquez, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Montebello's win bumped their record up to 17-8. As for Los Altos, their victory bumped their record up to 6-15-1.
Los Altos' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Montebello hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .381. It's a different story for Los Altos, though, as they've only averaged .233. Will they be able to contain Montebello's hitters?
Montebello took their win against Los Altos in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 8-0 score. Will the Oilers repeat their success, or do the Conquerors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
