Southwest EC has gone 8-2 against Calexico recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Southwest EC comes in on eight and Calexico on ten.
Last Friday, Southwest EC got the win against Palo Verde Valley by a conclusive 11-5. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Cole Redden was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Redden was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jose Salcido, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jerry Niebla, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Southwest EC lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Calexico sidestepped Holtville for a 4-3 win.
Like Southwest EC, Calexico also got a great game from a two-way player: Jose Ortega. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Ortega has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
In other pitching news, Calexico got a great performance from David Lara as he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Lara has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances.
Ortega wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Randy Baez, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Joshua Apodaca was another, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Southwest EC pushed their record up to 21-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Calexico, their record is now 19-3-1.
Both Southwest EC and Calexico just can't seem to miss. The Eagles have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Calexico struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Southwest EC took their victory against Calexico in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
