Lanier is on a six-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Seckinger a four-game streak of away losses also dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The Lanier Longhorns will be playing in front of their home fans against the Seckinger Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. Lanier is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Lanier fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against South Forsyth on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the War Eagles by a score of 5-4.

Zach Diaz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Nicholas Sampona, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Seckinger didn't have quite enough to beat Union Grove on Friday and fell 5-4.
Seckinger also got a good showing from Landon Niemotka, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.
At the plate, Andrew Carr was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. He also put up two doubles, which werehis first of the season. Alex Newnam was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Seckinger's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Lanier, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Lanier has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Seckinger struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Lanier came out on top in a nail-biter against Seckinger when the teams last played back in February of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Does Lanier have another victory up their sleeve, or will Seckinger turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
