Softball Recap: Central's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

After low-scoring totals in their previous four contest, Central brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They walked away with an 11-6 win over the Howard Huskies on Monday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Chargers as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

JaMyree Simmons made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caylin Mathis, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Addison Alexander, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Central now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Howard, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
