Baseball Recap: Rantoul Gets the Win

Rantoul proved they can win big last Monday (they won by ten) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Schlarman Hilltoppers, sneaking past 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Hilltoppers: they've now won six in a row.

Levi Duitsman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Duitsman was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Duitsman is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Duitsman wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dayton Wilson, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.

Rantoul's record now sits at 3-0.

Rantoul didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 6-0 defeat against Hoopeston on the 27th. As for Schlarman, they will challenge Cornerstone Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
