The Dunmore Bucks waltzed into their matchup on Friday with nine straight wins but they left with ten. They blew past Mid Valley 53-26 on the road. Given Dunmore's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while the Spartans are ranked 365th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mid Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Krista Cortazar, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Chiara Zavislak, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Dunmore's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. As for Mid Valley, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-7.
Dunmore won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Knights at 2:15 p.m. on January 27th. Lake-Lehman is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Mid Valley, they will head out on the road to challenge the Chargers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Carbondale Area is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
