The Brookville Raiders lost against the Elk County Catholic Crusaders back in February of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Brookville was beaten by Elk County Catholic 61-32. While losing is never fun, Brookville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 331st, while Elk County Catholic is ranked 30th).
Brookville's loss came despite strong showings from Eden Wonderling and Samantha Whitling. Wonderling scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and three steals, while Whitling scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals. Wonderling is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Brookville's defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-3. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.8 points per game. As for Elk County Catholic, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brookville will be home for the holidays to greet DuBois at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. DuBois is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Elk County Catholic will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Brockway at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
