The Franklin Towne Warriors can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They walked away with a 42-31 win over Sankofa Freedom Academy. The win was just what Franklin Towne needed coming off of a 56-34 loss in their prior match.
Meiara Staton continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points. She is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Briana Hutchinson, who scored ten points.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Faith Darlington, who scored 20 points along with four steals and three blocks. That was a full 64.5% of Sankofa Freedom Academy's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Diamond Whitaker, who scored nine points along with five steals.
Franklin Towne's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-4. As for Sankofa Freedom Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8-1.
Franklin Towne will head out on the road to challenge Philadelphia High School for Girls at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Philadelphia High School for Girls has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Sankofa Freedom Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Parkway Center City at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Sankofa Freedom Academy's defense has only allowed 28.6 points per game this season, so Parkway Center City's offense will have their work cut out for them.
