Basketball Recap: Makenna Mccoy's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Penn Cambria over Central Cambria

Penn Cambria was the 56-47 winner over Central Cambria when they last played one another back in November, but their luck changed this time around. The Penn Cambria Panthers took a 41-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Central Cambria Red Devils on Friday. The game marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Penn Cambria's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was MaKenna McCoy, who posted nine points and seven boards. McCoy is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Reagan Ronan was another key player, putting up seven points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Penn Cambria smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Penn Cambria has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. As for Central Cambria, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Penn Cambria will take on Central in a tournament on Friday. Penn Cambria is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53 points per game this season. Central Cambria and Portage will round out the year against one another at at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
