The Mayfair Monsoons will square off against the Alhambra Moors at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
On Friday, Mayfair got the win against Dominguez by a conclusive 12-5. The victory continues a trend for the Monsoons in their matchups with the Dons: they've now won eight in a row.
Xavier Xilonsochilt looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gabriel Diaz, who went 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and one stolen base. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Ryan Corros was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.
The home team had come away the winner the last six times Alhambra and Schurr had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Alhambra never let Schurr get on the board and left with a 14-0 win on Friday. Considering the Moors have won four games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Alhambra let Isaiah Lerma and Jacob Hightower run wild. Lerma scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Hightower scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Rodriguez, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Alhambra always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Schurr only posted an OBP of .167.
Alhambra's victory bumped their record up to 7-2-1. As for Mayfair, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mayfair has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Alhambra struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Mayfair was able to grind out a solid victory over Alhambra when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 6-2. Does Mayfair have another victory up their sleeve, or will Alhambra turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
