The Oakland Wildcats are taking a road trip to square off against the San Lorenzo Grizzlies at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Oakland is headed out to face San Lorenzo after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Oakland was the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over Mt. Diablo on Friday.
Sam Letson made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Letson was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.
In other batting news, Asher Cox was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Four bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Monty Yeager was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Meanwhile, San Lorenzo put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Bethel as San Lorenzo made off with a 15-2 victory. That's two games straight that the Grizzlies have won by exactly 13 runs.
Like Oakland, San Lorenzo also got a great game from a two-way player: Rogelio Hernandez. He struck out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Hernandez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kane Lawless, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Ulises Jimenez Santiago, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.
San Lorenzo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .512 or higher in seven consecutive games dating back to last season.
Oakland suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to San Lorenzo when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Oakland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
