The Barnum Bombers put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Aitkin 41-0 at home. The result was nothing new for Barnum, who have now won six matches by 28 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Barnum to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hayden Charboneau, who threw for 236 yards and five touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Carlos Beckstrand, who picked up 95 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Barnum's win was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 10-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin and 1-8 Ely/Northeast Range/Vermillion Country (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 31.3% over those games). As for Aitkin, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.
Barnum will take on Moose Lake/Willow River at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Moose Lake/Willow River is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last nine games. Aitkin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
