Calaveras hasn't had much luck against Linden recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Red Hawks will look to defend their home field against the Lions at 4:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
Calaveras' pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Big Valley Christian 7-0. The result was nothing new for the Red Hawks, who have now won eight games by seven runs or more so far this season.
The result came thanks to Ryan Dickinson's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Calaveras got a big performance out of Cohen Curran, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Curran has posted since back in April of 2025. Braxton Hughart was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Calaveras always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They are 5-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Linden). They put the hurt on Riverbank with a sharp 16-0 win on Thursday. With that victory, the Lions brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Marco Holguin made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Linden is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 5-8 otherwise. Holguin was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isaiah Gonzalez, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was James Boysen, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.
Calaveras' win bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Linden, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9.
Calaveras' speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's matchup. The Red Hawks have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Linden, though, as they've been averaging only 1.4 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Calaveras continue to outrun the ball?
