Football Recap: Longview's Winning Streak Snapped at Ten Games

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Longview can now relate to. They fell just short of the Southlake Carroll Dragons by a score of 20-17 on Saturday. The Lobos' loss signaled the end of their ten-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why Longview lost, don't look at Kelvin Washington. Despite the final result, he rushed for 146 yards and one touchdown. Washington's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 146 rushing yards.

Longview didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Da'Kayden Carter and Kason Brooks.

Southlake Carroll's receiving core played a big role in the win, headlined by Christian Glenn and Blake Gunter. Glenn rushed for 132 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.3 yards per carry while Gunter picked up 98 receiving yards and one touchdown. What's more, Glenn also racked up 21 receiving yards, the most he's had since back in November of 2023.

Longview's defeat dropped their record down to 12-3. As for Southlake Carroll, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 15-0.

Longview does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Southlake Carroll will take on Vandegrift in a holiday battle at at 3:00 p.m. on December 21st. Vandegrift knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past nine contests -- so hopefully Southlake Carroll likes a good challenge.
