The Discovery Canyon Thunder waltzed into their matchup Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They really took it to Elizabeth for the full four quarters, racking up a 60-27 victory at home. Discovery Canyon might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won four contests by 25 points or more this season.
Discovery Canyon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Taylor Mccann led the charge by scoring eight points along with six rebounds and four steals. Mccann is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Addison Hulse, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Arianna Toaipa and Meghan Benkendorf certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Toaipa scored nine points, while Benkendorf scored three points.
Discovery Canyon's win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-6. As for Elizabeth, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Discovery Canyon will take on Pueblo Central at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Elizabeth, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Palmer Ridge at 5:30 p.m.
